To be able to specify different service prices for different vehicles, it is useful to categorize all vehicles.
This will allow you to:
- Optimally form prices for services, which will vary depending on labor and detergent consumption;
- f there are norms for each category, more accurately control the time of work and consumables;
- Form the right pricing policy for different categories of customers.
As practice shows, when dividing cars into categories, it is important to find a "golden mean". If there are too few categories, there is a high probability that orders with different costs will have the same prices. Or vice versa, if there are too many categories, it can be difficult to understand the cost of the service in the first place for the customer, as well as for the staff of the car wash.
We have also noticed that at car washes with a large number of categories, the number of conflict situations (when the customer believes that his car belongs to one category, but the receptionist has a different opinion) is significantly higher.
Therefore, we believe that for most car washes it is optimal to divide cars into 5 categories:
- 1 category - Compact car
- 2 category - Medium-sized cars
- 3 category - Crossovers
- 4 category - SUVs
- 5 category - Vans and commercial vehicles
Sometimes, due to specific terrain or customers, a carwash does not actually service compact vehicles. In this case, the first and second categories can be combined into one.
It is also desirable to record which cars belong to each category according to their make and model. This will be an important aid for your administrator in situations where it is difficult to visually determine whether a vehicle belongs to a category.
The most difficult situations arise when one vehicle is assigned to different categories by different administrators. That is why we have added functionality to our car wash automation program that allows you to work in two modes:
- Define car category manually by selecting the desired one from the list;
- Determine the category by vehicle make and model, and only if the make and model were not found in the matching list, select the category manually.
According to statistics, for most car washes, our car classifications, as well as the lists of matching makes and models to these categories, will be optimal. Therefore, we most often recommend using them. The service also allows you to customize categories and lists individually or generate them from the history of orders after a short period of work.
